Using Humor as a Weapon…What About the Ammo?
I realize that it’s all well and good to sit back here, typing at my computer, and tell you guys that you need to learn to be funny, but that it’s not necessarily that easy.
To start, where do you find your material? Obviously, telling the same tired old jokes that everyone’s heard a thousand times isn’t going to do anything for you…at least, nothing positive.
Other people who advocate the comedic approach recommend that you actually watch professional comedians do what they do, and take lessons and notes from them. Now, don’t copy their material and pass it off as your own, that’s not going to get you anywhere either, not to mention that it’s just plain wrong.
What you SHOULD do is really take note of not so much what they’re saying, as how they’re saying it. In my time, I’ve learned that you can be pretty funny with a lack of content…it’s all in the delivery. 95% of all comedy is based upon observations. You take note of something you see or hear, think about it, realize just why it’s so funny, and share your thoughts in a humorous manner.
Whatever you do, avoid slapstick comedy. As funny as they are, Will Farrel, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, and Robin Williams just aren’t going to be prime choices for learning humor with the intent of using it to create attraction with women. As I said a second ago, it’s all in the delivery. If you want to learn from the pros, try watching some Will Smith movies, or maybe Jeff Goldblum. Some of the funniest people in the world are funny because they’re so expressive.
Look at Eddie Murphy. His humor can be pretty loud and obnoxious, which isn’t what you’re particularly after, but that man can make you laugh just by flashing a big smile.
Even people who seem incredibly serious can be immensely funny. Take actors like Tommy Lee Jones, Sean Connery, and Denzel Washington. Serious actors, who can still pull off being quite funny when they want to be, usually without even needing to smile when they do it!
So take lessons from the pros. Experiment with your friends to see what sort of comedic style suits you the best. I guarantee, once you’ve played around a bit and found your niche, you’ll see a huge boost in popularity, and a lot more female attention!
